The 2017-2018 Shiraka Training Programme on Legislation took place in The Hague between 9-17 November 2017. In comparison to the previous training years, 12 countries were represented among the 25 participants. This diversity facilitated a comparative perspective in legislative drafting. The training programme further facilitated exchange between the participants by balancing didactical theoretical lectures with interactive learning sessions and workshops.
The participants had the chance to apply two prominent Dutch legislative tools, namely; the Table of Eleven and the Integrated Assessment Framework (for more information in Dutch please visit the following website: www.naarhetiak.nl). During these workshops, participants were able to utilize the tool with real-life cases.
Soft skills was another important component of the training, with workshops on personal development and leadership which were highly appreciated by the participants. Finally, the training programme incorporated numerous study visits, including a tour of the parliament, the International Court of Justice and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
The training programme was highly appreciated by the participants, which was reflected in the feedback received from them in the evaluation survey. The follow-up component of the training is scheduled to take place in Cairo in March 2018, inshallah!
