Project description
This Dutch-Russian legal cooperation project has focused on two distinct legal fields that fall under Parts One and Two of the Russian Civil Code: proprietary rights and legal persons. In the course of the project several working group meetings and consultations have taken place on legal notions such as the state registration of legal entities, the division of legal entities, the rights of creditors of a legal entity under reorganization, the protection of ownership, the general provisions of proprietary rights, the acquisition and termination of proprietary rights, and the permanent right of ownership and use.
The various consultations in Russia and the Netherlands have put these key issues in the field of proprietary rights and legal persons in a broad international perspective, having them interlink with relevant international developments in the area of civil law. This fruitful cooperation has resulted in the preparation by the Research Center for Private Law of a draft federal law “On the amendments of Parts One, Two, Three, and Four of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation” that was presented to the Russian Presidential Administration in December 2010.

- Russia // Delegation informed on Dutch system of proprietary rights 22 September 2010The President of the Russian Supreme Arbitration Court, Anton Alexandrovich Ivanov, accompanied by four legal experts, visited CILC from 13 – 17 September 2010. This high level delegation is part of the working group on Proprietary Rights of the Russian Research Center for Private Law, an advisory body to President Medvedev. This working group is drafting amendments to the first part of the Russian Civil Code and the visiting experts sought specific Dutch legal expertise for shaping and fine-tuning the laws on land registration, the conveyance of real property and property protection. During its stay in The Netherlands the Russian delegation consulted the minister of Justice Mr. Hirsch Ballin, The Kadaster International and the Royal Dutch Notarial Society. - The Hague // President of the Russian Supreme Arbitration Court visits CILC 2 April 2010The President of the Russian Supreme Arbitration Court, Anton Alexandrovich Ivanov, accompanied by four legal experts, visits CILC from 13 – 17 September 2010 in the context of more than 15 years of Dutch-Russian legal cooperation in the field of civil law. The Russian experts are in The Netherlands to get informed on the Dutch system of proprietary law. The Russian Supreme Arbitration Court is the highest Russian authority for the settlement of economic disputes.
