Between March 3 and March 6, 2017, MDF Training and Consultancy conducted a training in Jericho, Palestine on Local Fund-Raising & Social Media (LFR & SM), as part of the NICHE-supported capacity building program consortium, coordinated by CILC in collaboration with MDF and An-Najah National University. The LFR&SM course was designed and facilitated by MDF trainers’ team Ger Roebeling and Merel Kuiper who used blended learning materials co-created by Wild Geese / Change the Game Academy.
Ms. Roebeling and Ms. Kuiper engaged participants through highly interactive and experiential learning strategies including role play, online searches, group discussion and group work, concept mapping and problem solving activities, through which they were able to facilitate the participants’ learning in effectively leveraging the social media for a variety of fundraising activities while matching their institution’s needs with the resources of partners and donors.
Fifteen participants from Al-Quds University, Birzeit University, Hebron University and the Palestinian Judicial Institute who attended the training, focused on local resource mobilization and learned to develop fundraising plans for their respective institutions, identify potential local and regional donors, organize campaigns, and create action plans through meaningful communication and social media strategies.
At the end of the training, after having practiced their “elevator pitch” and developed compelling cases for support and group action plans, participants presented their newly developed project proposals and campaign event ideas. Engaging hands-on exercises allowed them to practice their new skills and envision positive effects on job-related behaviors and their individual fundraising performance.
