At CILC we are always ready and pleased to share our experience and explore new grounds for cooperation with interested organisations and experts. On 28 May Ms. Ellen Lee, staff attorney of the Taiwan Legal Aid Foundation, visited the CILC office in The Hague to discuss the Dutch legal aid system and learn about our experience in providing support for legal aid (such as through the bilateral project on Legal Aid in Russia, implemented by CILC in 2010-2013). The visit to CILC was part of the 4-week visiting program of Ms. Lee, that also included visits to the Netherlands Ministry of Security and Justice, the Dutch Legal Aid Board, the Legal Service Counters, the Dutch Bar Association and various law firms, as well as other NGOs involved in access to justice and legal aid issues.
Our meeting with Ms. Lee focused around a presentation of the mass survey on legal needs of the Russian population that we organised in the Sverdlovskaya Oblast in 2011-2012 and of the specific advice we provided for the design of the Russian regional civil legal aid systems.
