CILC and the Foundation for Local Autonomy and Governance (FLAG) organised the first workshop of two on Participatory Governance in Albania. The workshop took place on 21-23 September in Tirana. Participants from the pilot municipalities* of the Matra CoPROL Leadership Programme for Security and Rule of Law discussed the level of participation of civil society in local government. In groups they worked on real cases of discrimination and minority rights. Different methods and techniques of how to identify and include all relevant stakeholders in the decision making process were discussed, and municipality officials and civil society representatives shared their personal experiences. The second workshop will take place mid-October 2015 in Tirana.
*The pilot municipalities are: Berat, Burrel, Fier, Korce, Shkoder and Peshkopi.
