Between 10 and 13 June a high-level delegation from China will visit the Netherlands to learn about the Dutch system of legal aid. Mr. Sang Ning, Deputy Director General of the National Legal Aid Center (NLAC) within the Chinese Ministry of Justice leads the group of eight legal aid experts from various provinces of China. During this study visit, the Chinese legal experts will explore the structure of the system of subsidised legal aid, the Dutch legal aid law, and good practices in civil and criminal legal aid provision.
CILC has been working on access to justice and legal aid projects for many years. After receiving a high-level delegation from Russia in 2013, CILC is proud to extend its experience to China and facilitate a tailored study visit for the Chinese delegation.
The week programme will take the delegation from the Ministry of Security and Justice in The Hague to the Dutch Legal Aid Board and the Legal Service Counters in Utrecht, a law firm in Eindhoven, and the Bar Association in The Hague. The programme is specifically designed to provide the visiting experts a view from the inside and from various institutions within the system.
This week visit is part of the EU-China Access to Justice Programme that is financed with the contribution of the Government of China and the European Union.
