Wester Balkans // BESp launches HCCH Conventions Training on Trainers for Macedonian Judges jointly with the Academy of Justice in North Macedonia

The “Balkans Enforcement Strengthening Project” (BESP) funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC) extends its support to thе Academy for judges and public prosecutors in North Macedonia by launching a Train-the-Trainer program on 2019 HCCH Judgments Convention for the judiciary in North Macedonia.

Following the signing of the 2019 HCCH Judgments Convention by North Macedonia on 16th of May 2023, the legal system and judiciary in the country need to strengthen capacities, competencies, professionalism and expertise in the area of international legal assistance, recognition and enforcement of civil and commercial judgments.

Aiming to build up a core group of trainers from civil judges in North Macedonia and sustainable training program implementing unified, efficient and effective training methodology, tailor-made Train-the-Trainers program was developed by the BESP project. The first session of the program took place on 17th and 18th of February 2025 delivered by Jos Uitdehaag, BESP project Lead expert, Zlatislava Mihailoff, BESP project Senior expert and Prof. Ilija Rumenov, HCCH National Champion for North Macedonia. Next sessions will take place in April and June respectively.
