In Arabic, shiraka means partnership. With the Shiraka programme, the Netherlands supports societal development in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The main focus is social contracts between the government and citizens. Shiraka focuses on the involvement of civilians in governance and governments’ service delivery for citizens.

The programme of this tailor made training has been designed to increase opportunities for female judges working in the judiciary to scale up to leadership positions in the judiciary by maximising their impact and influence in decision making process.
The aim of the programme is to:

  • identify systematic dilemma’s, challenges and obstacles that hinder female judges in
    Jordan to acquire and hold leadership positions;
  • develop the (practical) skills for female judges to get and hold leadership positions;
  • develop abilities of female judges to become agents of change within the judiciary and
    the society as a whole;
  • promote learning and exchange among peers by establishing an alumni network for female
    judges to promote change.
