Damir Hadzic
I joined CILC in May 2024 as a senior project manager. In this role, I am responsible for designing and implementing our security and rule of law projects. Furthermore, I am responsible for client and partner management, business development and acquisitions, and supervision of project staff.
Experience and expertise
I bring over 25 years of experience as a specialist in public sector governance, rule of law and project management, with a focus on post-conflict and transitional development. My expertise encompasses good governance reforms, decentralization, and civil society development. I have a proven track record of advising governments, legislative bodies, judiciaries and civil society organisations on institutional capacity-building, organisational management, strategic planning, and enhancing public service delivery.
As an experienced project and grants manager, I have extensive knowledge of Political Economy Analysis (PEA) tools and their practical application in project design, implementation and activity adaptation.
Passion and vision
Living through the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s shaped the foundation of my career. I have worked in both highly developed countries and fragile, conflict-affected countries. I’ve gained experience advising public sectors stakeholders – from local to national – and collaborating with and supporting civil society organisations ranging from community groups to international NGOs. My sectoral experience spans governance, rule of law, education, health and infrastructure.
This breadth of experience has deepened my understanding of the factors influencing assistance and reform programs aimed at addressing inequality, poverty and discrimination. I have keen interest in and recognise the interplay of politics, geography, culture and economy in shaping the environments where development assistance is delivered. Successfully navigating these complexities requires contextualised approaches, strong partnerships, cultural and political insight, patience and respect. I hope to bring those qualities to everything we do within CILC.
