Emily van Rheenen

I joined CILC in 2019 and am a senior project manager. In this role I’m responsible for acquiring, designing and implementing projects and applying our expertise in practice. My focus is on developing the rule of law development and building relationships between justice institutions in the Netherlands and abroad. By applying the colleague-to-colleague consultation method and high-quality project management approaches, I support and foster change for our beneficiaries and donors.

Experience and expertise

One of my key activities and responsibilities is to help develop bilateral legal cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia, East Africa, and the Western Balkans. For this purpose, I have built a network of experts, donors and stakeholders focusing on the rule of law development, anti-corruption, and EU Accession. My background is in international law, international relations and crisis and security management.

Passion and vision

At CILC, we create tailored solutions to challenging obstacles to rule-of-law development. This mission gives me the opportunity to challenge myself and to achieve further academic and professional development. I enjoy conducting academic research to ascertain the effectiveness of our work and that of our Dutch and EU donors.
